Such a loss when she died, and for something that was so treatable if they had caught it sooner. The moral of that story is: Once you are over forty... Make regular visits to your "female parts" (Gynecologist) doctor.

Kahn was great in all her movies, but ESPECIALLY in Mel Brooks films. Who can forget "...AHHH Sweet mystery of live at last I found you!" from Young Frankenstein.

On a more serious note, I vaguely recall seeing "Song of the South" when I was a kid, but what I DO remember very clearly is Briar Rabbit and the Tar Baby being one of my favorite books. If we still have it, I'm pretty sure it's well worn beyond repair. Mom had to read it to me a lot, even after I learned to read myself. Also, Mom always sang the Zip-a-dee-doo-dah song to me on request, which was often. She could always carry a tune quite well.

Lili Von Shtupp is my favorite... "I've been with thousands of men. Again and again, they promise the moon. They're always coming and going, and going and coming, and always too soon". :-) Madeline Kahn rules!

Well, for now let me say this. I had a brilliantly crafted response that made very salient points and that also took umbrage with the reference to the movie the Black Hole and its comparison to Jar Jar Binks. But alas the vagrancies of techonology conspired to to keep my brillant prose from being posted. O.k. the battery in the laptop was dying and I didn't make to the electrical cord soon enough. Personally I think that damn smiley face is conspiring against me.
